Dog behaviour can be controlled
Dog behaviour can sometimes be quite confusing to most humans. I mean: do we really understand why a dog feels the need to smell each other’s butts? I don’t know about you but I have never felt the urge to smell anybody’s behind. Dog behaviour can be trained and controlled, maybe not the smelling thing but some of the more important aspects of their behaviour.
Dog behaviour, such as paper training or leash training, can be taught to a dog at an early age. The sooner you start to train your dog as to what is and is not appropriate behaviour; the happier you both will be. After all, no dog likes to be yelled at for what he considers to be natural behaviour and no human enjoys yelling at a loving pet that just doesn’t know any better.
There are many books available on dog behaviour. They would be the best source of information on tips and tricks to train your dog easier. And anything that makes your job easier is a good thing. The best advice that I can give you is to be consistent. Don’t let him get away with anything just this once. Just this once could turn into a permanent habit, especially when you aren’t looking.
